Life with Lakota
If you have followed our facebook page, you will know we often feature our canine colleague Lakota has lots of stories, and is around in our lives alot! She is a complete joy to have around and as part of our team! So we thought we would put some stories below from over the years about her for you to enjoy!!
Here is Lakota when she was just a pup! Aren’t Labradors just the cutest? She joined the Barkers in Balance family in 2014 and here she is !!

Out on the job today, met up with a “Mini-Me”! Her name’s Molly and she needed a little help as she wasn’t able to finish her puppy course at the Hamilton Vet Clinic. Today I taught her how to come when she’s called, walk by her human’s side and to stay when her human tells her to. Gotta keep this younger generation in line!
So we did some settling exercises out in public today. I started to learn how to stay settled outside the shop while my human went inside. I even kept it together when this random little (off-leash!) dog approached! So that’s the supermarket and the coffee shop ticked off the list. Still got a bit of refinement to do with calling out to passers-by when I’m tethered. Oh well, just call me the social butterfly!

Just had a fabulous couple of days catching up with family: Nevada, my auntie (our mothers were sisters from different litters) and Austin my half-brother (we have the same father). Well that’s what Uncle Michael thinks is the story. Still, we are all proud offspring from Nativewood Chocolate Labradors

Dropped in to see Trixi the Rottie (13 weeks old) today. Her full title is “Trixi the Barmaid”. Thought I’d show her a few things that mature, grown up dogs can do. She certainly showed very good manners to me, as an experienced woman of the world. I’m always happy to set a good example. You’re welcome, Trixi.

We’re not happy! The morning was going swimmingly. I did an excellent job training those growly dogs this morning, on our way to our next appointment and BANG! A piece of metal on the road outside the scrap metal yard, followed very quickly by a flat tyre! Thankful at least for roadside assistance!
We hope you like getting to know our lovely Lakota! We will do more blogs on her fun adventures in the future, because we love her and she is integral and a lovely part of our team!
