Why might private consultations work better for me?

  • Some dogs present with problems that can’t be addressed in a group situation.
  • Some dog owners are not able to regularly attend a course.
  • Some owners have never owned a dog before and are quite anxious about participating in a class situation.

For these people private consultations are the ideal way to learn about their dog without the distractions of other dogs and people and to have a program specially tailored to their dog’s needs.

Who?

Our private consultations are for puppies and dogs of any age and any breed. These consultations are aimed at teaching dog owners how to develop desirable behaviours in their dogs, using reward-based training.

Where & When?

We are specialists in Dog Behaviour Newcastle, Dog Behaviour Port Stephens, Dog Behaviour Maitland and Dog
Behaviour Hunter. We provide private consultations in three locations:

  • Anna Bay
  • Lambton
  • East Maitland

Our private dog behaviour consultations are available by appointment, 7 days a week. Each consultation lasts for an hour and after your appointment you will receive a personalised, comprehensive email outlining everything covered in the appointment along with relevant resources. During your visit we may also take videos of some specific practices so that you can refer back to this in your practices at home.

Private consultations are offered at our venues in Newcastle, Maitland and Port Stephens. A private consultation can also be offered in your home.

What about Home Visits?

YES! We realise that some of your dog’s behaviours originate from home so we are happy to consult with you in your home. Often we need to assess the layout of your home in order to devise a behavioural program tailored to your family’s in-home needs with your dog or dogs.
Our policy for home visits is that if your home is in close proximity to one of our venues, the fee for your visit will remain the same as if you came to us. If your home location is 10km or more from one of our venues we may need to add a small travel levy. This is calculated on an individual basis and is best discussed when you book
your appointment.

What?

We recommend a series of 3 private sessions of an hour each in length. This will allow us to guide you and your dog over a period of time towards the behaviour change you are looking for. We will create a program specially tailored to your dog’s needs and monitor and adjust your program during your 3-session experience with us. We will also send you a detailed email of resources after each session.

After one session I’m very happy with my experience with Barkers in balance. Julie came highly recommended from friends of my partner and to her credit she exceeded my expectations with her knowledge and her friendly approach. I look forward to implementing her tips and tricks with my dog and will definitely be back. Thanks again.
