All about “Growlies” – Now Reactive Rehab Classes
So what is our “Reactive Rehab” course?
Our Reactive Rehab classes – formerly know as GROWLY classes are for dogs that are anxious or reactive on the lead. The setting for our classes is calm and quiet. The dogs are able to practise skills of focus and redirection in a controlled situation with other dogs moving around at carefully measured distances. Each dog is exposed at a level which is just right for them. The dogs in these pictures were able to sit and focus today in the middle of an activity course while other dogs engaged in activities around them.
Some dogs begin to grow up and just don’t “get it”, particularly when it comes to being appropriate around other dogs. Reasons for this can include lack of early socialisation experiences, significant negative incidents with other inappropriate dogs, lack of experience in looking to the human for direction or perhaps just lack of consistent training. The result is usually a dog who lunges, barks and growls at other dogs. Before you know it, you’ve joined the “Midnight Walkers’ Club”!

Below in the photo, are some of the principles we work on with you and your reactive dog. We always start with a private session with just you and your dog, then work towards placing them in either a “Growly” class or a Good Manners class, based on individual needs and progress
Think this could suit your dog? Just get in touch! We would love to get you into one of our classes.
